For Doctors

We lose our hearing for a variety of reasons. These include excessive exposure to loud noises, exposure to toxins in the air, blunt force trauma, some cancer drugs, and old age. Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) is the most common acquired form of deafness worldwide. It is caused by an overexposure to sound waves of damaging intensity. The damaging hearing effects are a function of the intensity of the noise, the duration of exposure, and the type of noise. This is also known as sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). SNHL, also known as “nerve deafness” is often a result of noise-induced oxidative stress. Over 75% of deafness worldwide is attributed to SNHL. It causes deterioration of the nerve endings and sound sensory receptors in the cochlea, the inner ear organ of hearing. Noise-induced SNHL is the leading preventable and potentially treatable cause of SNHL in the US and worldwide.

Noise-induced hearing loss causes both physical damage and damage on a cellular level. Acoustic over-stimulation can promote the excessive release of the neurotransmitter glutamate at the inner hair cell synapse (typically referred to as excitotoxicity), a rapid increase in reactive oxygen species (ROS), and release of free radicals in the cochlea, leading to preprogramed cell then or apoptosis and outer and inner sensory hair cell or neuronal death. It has been shown that the majority of the inner ear injury due to excessive noise is caused by metabolic biochemical changes from oxidative stress. In response to loud noise exposure the cochlea produces toxins known as free radicals that if left untreated they can permanently damage the delicate cochlear structures leading to hearing loss. The active ingredient in The Hearing Pill® has successfully shown in the lab to address the biochemical causes of noise induced hearing loss including reducing reactive oxygen species, reducing glutathione depletion, reducing glutamate excitotoxicity, helping in the prevention of mitochondria damage, acting as an antiapoptotic agent.

No other product on the market has demonstrated The Hearing Pill®’s unique ability to tackle these mechanisms.

Why Ear Plugs May Not Be Enough:

Although mechanical hearing protection is essential, quite often it cannot always be worn due to safety considerations, or is ineffective because it incompletely protects the ear from damaging noise. Many exposures exceed the protective capabilities of ear plugs and ear muffs partly because sound energy can bypass the ear, travel through the skull and directly damage the ear.

A Word About Manufacturing:

We don’t take any shortcuts when it comes to quality control. The Hearing Pill® is manufactured in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) protocols (based upon FDA’s Current Good Manufacturing Practices) GMP or cGMP are followed by companies that require standardized production, such as pharmaceutical, biotech and nutritional supplements. This allows for traceable control on identity, strength, quality, and purity. FDA regulates companies in those industries to ensure that cGMPs are being carefully followed. GMP provides a high level of safety for the consumer. We incorporate Current Good Manufacturing Practices in all aspects of our operations:

There is also a comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Master Batch Records (MBR) and Production Batch Records (PBR). This ensures meticulous record keeping and quality assurance. The procedures and records provide the specific step-by-step directions of how to manufacture our supplements in a traceable high quality manner. They are like recipes written for each and every aspect of manufacturing

The active ingredient in The Hearing Pill® has successfully shown it preserves almost all of the OHCs. In the lab loud noise destroys most of the outer hair cells (OHCs).
